Our renowned Ride & Drive event kicks off the Expo at the Virginia State Police Driver Training Complex on Monday, Aug. 16. Get behind the wheel for a truly hands-on experience like no other with the latest sedans/SUVs from Dodge, Ford and GM as well as other types of vehicles to round out your fleet, including motorcycles, ATVs, and more.
With three days of vital training sessions designed specifically for police fleet managers, sessions range from Fleet Management 101 for those new to the position, to more advanced class offerings dealing with the critical issues facing the fleet industry today. All of this is in addition to the invaluable manufacturer’s sessions conducted by Dodge, Ford, and GM, where you get a chance to hear from the very people that design your law enforcement vehicles.
In addition to the invaluable class sessions, Police Fleet Expo offers over eight hours of expo hall access to more than 120 fleet-related vendors on Aug. 18 and Aug. 19.

Things to Do in Richmond
After a full day at Police Fleet Expo, you may want to unwind outdoors or indoors. While many attractions are open to the public, some places may still require masks in indoor public spaces. Outdoors, there are over 100 murals to see, open-air farmer’s markets, diverse architecture, and historic monuments all over the city and surrounding areas.
Richmond has been named one of the best foodie towns in America. There are more than 900 restaurants, many locally owned. Bon Appétit named Longoven one of America’s Best New Restaurants for 2019. Alewife was also named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2019. For memorable dining experiences, Lehja, Sub Rosa Bakery, Mama J’s Kitchen, L’Opposum, Peter Chang, and Brenner Pass are all James Beard Award nominated restaurants.
If you are a craft beer lover, take a tour on the Richmond Beer Trail, with Richmond Brewery Tours, Drink Richmond, or RVA Brew Crew tours. The city has 40 craft breweries (10 of which are located in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood). The Veil Brewing Co. was named one of the “most-hyped breweries in America right now” by Gear Patrol. Visit five craft breweries and get your beer trail map stamped for some free Richmond beer swag. There are also urban cideries, a meadery, distilleries, and craft cocktail bars sprinkled throughout the streets of Carytown.
Richmond also has a vibrant arts scene, with street murals, galleries and the Institute for Contemporary Art. Other cultural attractions in Richmond include the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia Museum of History and Culture, The Black History Museum and Cultural Center, The Valentine, and the Science Museum of Virginia. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen hosts art exhibitions, concerts, plays, modern and classic dance performances, the Latin Ballet of Virginia, and more.
For those who enjoy exercising in the great outdoors, Richmond offers the James River Park system for kayaking, or biking on the Virginia Capital Trail, which takes you from Richmond to Williamsburg. Revisit history at the church where Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death”; the place where Christopher Newport landed in 1607, and Henricus, where Pocahontas lived.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden was named one of the Best Public Gardens in the United States by USA Today. Another must-see is Maymont, a historic estate with an Italian garden, Japanese garden, Arboretum, in addition to a nature center and children’s farm with everything from alligators to venomous snakes.
Serious thrill-seekers will love King’s Dominion amusement park, with more than 60 rides, including 12 roller coasters, which is the East Coast’s largest collection.
