Hello Everyone…
Police Fleet Expo is looking for some feedback. We are currently working on the Upfitter training sessions/tracks for the Conference in Ft Worth in 2024. This does not include the regular Fleet Management tracks. We are curious to hear from this community about what topics you’d like to hear about. You all are in the trenches every day. What is something you struggle to get information about? What should we be concentrating on? Is it more nuts and bolts type very specific topics? Inventory management? Shop management? Personnel? Workflow? Vehicle Build Sheets? Materials? Tools? Keep in mind that we try to appeal to a broad audience and try to stay away from specific manufacturers. As a bonus…if we select your idea, we’ll give you a free full access pass to PFE 2024.

The website for the event will be up and running soon. We hope to see you all in Ft Worth!

And…Thank you in advance for your feedback! It’s extremely helpful.

PS - We have posted this question on a couple other forums. If you already responded on one of those forums, there is no need to duplicate that here.

What about taking the idea of the upfitter track outside the box of sales pitches. I’m a fleet manager struggling to get cars on the road in a timely manner. I have cars on hand right now that will exceed a year on the ground before I can put them in service. The industry needs people who know how to upfit but there is no training track to learn it. Foundational classes would be outstanding. How to select parts, what to use to wire things, basic vehicle electrical knowledge, etc. but the sales pitch mentality of the process has to go. I don’t want Whelen, or Code3, or Sound off teaching it. It needs to be someone that can teach a people how to do the job. It’s a tall order, but it’s what the industry desperately needs.

Some upfitting instruction on how to swap out things like radars, printer docks, or GPS systems that would be fairly easy for some of us. Things that we could update in our fleet to get rid of outdated equipment but not have to go to full on upfitter for since you can’t hardly get them done in timely manner now days.

How about some focus on K-9 uplifts and products?
